About Calcium Chloride
OxyChem is the world’s largest producer of calcium chloride. OxyChem calcium chloride products are proudly made in the USA. Our production facility in Ludington, Michigan utilizes the abundant supply of naturally occurring brine to produce liquid and solid calcium chloride products.
Calcium chloride is used to control snow and ice on sidewalks, parking lots and roads; to suppress dust on unpaved surfaces; and for road stabilization. It has innovative applications in oil field operations, industrial processing, water treatment, refrigeration systems and tire weighting. Calcium chloride is also a key component in many food processing applications.

MIOSHA VPP STAR
In 2002, the Ludington calcium chloride manufacturing plant earned status as a Safety Through Accountability and Recognition (STAR) participant in the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). OxyChem’s Ludington location was the first chemical manufacturing plant to earn this status in Michigan. The MIOSHA VPP STAR status award is the state’s highest honor for workplace safety and health and includes a rigorous onsite evaluation by a team of MIOSHA safety and health experts. The Ludington calcium chloride manufacturing plant successfully earns renewal of STAR status every three years.
